Just to add on to my previous post on growing lemon verbena, propagation can also be done with growing tips, preferably no more than three or four leaf nodes down from the tip, placed in pure perlite, and then bagged up, allowing a small opening for some air circulation.

Roots formed in about two to three weeks; this picture shows the stalk in my fish tank, after I'd transferred it there

Never found the rooting of Lemon Verbena a problem here in France, or earlier in the UK.
I take a strong shoot and push it into sandy soil in the garden, having selected a sheltered place. Water in, cover with a plastic bag from the supermarket and wait….next year you have another plant.

Hi Colin,
The growing conditions in France/UK varies very greatly from Singapore’s. We have to contend with extremely hot sun and high humidity. These two factors seem to cause the demise of a lot of plants and cuttings.

Hi, this isn’t a herb commonly found in Singapore. Only a few gardeners I know have it.
You may wish to grow lemon balm as a substitute though. The scent is similar.
Btw, this blog is now closed. I’ve moved to another. Thanks for looking!
